The plan

28 days before departure.

The plan is, there is no plan. I have 18 days to explore the South Island of New Zealand by motorcycle and I don’t intend to stick to a rigid itinerary.

I’m still working on a route, so I will update this post as it comes togther.

Here’s a list of the things that people have told me to explore so far, in no particular order:

  • Milford Sound
  • Lake Tekapo
  • Dunedin
  • Mt Sunday
  • Skipper’s Canyon – Research is necessary on whether insurance covers travel on Skipper’s Canyon Road
  • Deer Park Heights
  • Twizel
  • Kepler Mire
  • Fiordland
  • Mavora Lakes
  • Curio/Porpoise Bay
  • Stargazing around Otago
  • Lake Pukaki
  • Wanaka
  • Glenorchy
  • Clutha River
  • Fruitlands
  • Kaikoura Ranges
  • Picton
  • Various museums, libraries and other sights to be seen at these locations and more.

Please leave me a comment if I’ve left out anything you love about the South Island of New Zealand. I’ll do my best to work in as many sights and experiences as I can along the way.
