Many thanks to South Pacific Motorcycle Tours (SPMT) for hooking me up with a Suzuki SV650 for this trip. Givi panniers and lock box are included!
I’ll have Ruby from Friday 8 November until Friday 22 November, giving me the remaining weekend to explore Christchurch.
I was getting caught up in multiple suggestions about what type of bike to try and what sort of roads to explore, making the decision process take much longer. Admittedly, I was also shopping around for insurance excesses that weren’t exorbitant. I’m glad it’s over.
SPMT’s policy states that I have to stick to sealed roads and major routes, which is perfectly fine by me for this first attempt at such a trip. In future, I may look at softroading, but I’d like to build up adventure riding experience in Australia (on Hilda!) first.
