I’m nervous and excited! I’ve got stiff shoulders and a mild headache, but I’m keen to get this trip started.
I can’t wait to be on the plane and heading over. There’s a certain relief in knowing that whatever is forgotten will simply be unavailable to me while I’m away… and will be right where I left it when I get back.
Incidentally, I’ve been informed that the correct underwear:socks ratio is 3:1. I may have gotten it all sorts of wrong.
A fortnight to go and I still haven’t settled on a motorcycle. No matter how many times I try, I can’t seem to get a CB500X. It may be time to let that idea go.
I’ve now inquired with another company about their sole remaining Suzuki SV650. By all accounts, a capable and comfortable motorcycle.
I’ve also begun to wonder about my riding gear. I plan on taking UniQlo HeatTech undergarments and some light woolen mid layers and just go with textile road gear, but… will that be enough? Should I consider buying some trek/adventure riding gear?
I’ll be fine up around Christchurch, but according to NewZealand.com’s Climate and Weather page, Invercargill scores an average of about 11.4°C during November.
I think it may be time to visit AMA Warehouse to check out some adventure riding gear after all.
n. A male bee, especially a honeybee, that is characteristically stingless, performs no work, and produces no honey. Its only function is to mate with the queen bee.
n. An idle person who lives off others; a loafer.
n. A person who does tedious or menial work; a drudge.
I have received word that my chosen motorcycle, the CB500X, isn’t available from the company I inquired with. Major Bummer! I was really looking forward to giving that a go.
I’ve been offered a similar option; the Suzuki V-Strom 650. Meh. I’ll think about it…
Regardless, that’s not what this post is about. It’s about the other hardware. The even cooler stuff.
4K deliciousness on a 3 axis gimbal that performed admirably in the gusty winds around Runaway Bay today. I can’t wait to explore some fun angles with this thing!
Let’s be clear – The challenge with this purchase begins once I return from the trip. It’ll be awesome for the duration, but will it sit in a cupboard and waste away once I’m back?
I’ll also have a Sony FDR-X3000 action camera on hand for some video on the road and a new iPhone 11 Pro for some stationary shots.
If you have any suggestions for nice places to take photos while in NZ, let me know!
